Future Steps of Development

  • We expect to enhance our product to deal with not just bottles, but all types of recyclable components and all sorts of trash.

  • We plan to have the AutoCycle be placed in many public places such as parks, libraries, beaches, schools, etc.

  • Eventually, consumers will even place the AutoCycle in their own homes.

  • We expect to make modifications to the AutoCycle such as expanding the opening so bigger recyclables and other bigger pieces of trash can be sorted.

  • We can also make different-sized bins for different locations. In a more public area, we could make a bigger sized bin for more storage.

  • We also plan to put a paper shredder at the bottom of the garbage bin in case someone puts the paper in because paper is recyclable.

  • We also plan to put a weight sensor at the top of our garbage can to open the lid so the user does not need to open and close the lid of the garbage can themselves.

  • We plan to incorporate a solar panel onto the garbage can instead of a battery, since batteries drain quickly and solar panels will never run out of power.

  • Lastly, we want to incorporate a weight sensor in our design so that when the sensor detects weight, the circuit starts. This allows for the garbage can to not be running the whole time.
