The objective of our product is to solve the problem of recycling in modern society. Usually, people either put recyclables in the wrong bin or do not care enough about recycling. Our device uses the capabilities of the Arduino to determine if the item belongs in the waste or recyclable bin. It shines a laser through in the first compartment to determine if it is glass or plastic, then it drops down into the second compartment, where it does an electric conductivity test. If the laser shines through or it is electrically conductive then it is recyclable. Our company plans to place these trash bins throughout every public park and public recreational area to maximize the use of our product and minimize the lack of recycling.
